Children enjoy a healthy snack, homework time as needed, age-appropriate free play, and organized recreational activities. The program does not operate when: School is closed for holidays School is canceled due to weather (such as snow days) The school building is closed for any other reason Because the program is held within the school, we are unable to operate whenever the building is closed. Families are not charged for days the program is not in session. Eligibility This program is open to public school students in Pre-K through Grade 5. Pre-K students must: Attend the RSU 21 public Pre-K program at Kennebunk Elementary School (KES), and Be residents of Arundel. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 must attend Mildred L. Day School. If enrollment reaches capacity, Arundel residents will receive priority over non-resident students attending Mildred L. Day School. Because this program is supported by Arundel taxpayer dollars, resident priority helps ensure fair access for Arundel families. Is This Program the Right Fit? This recreation-based program is designed for children who are: Fully toilet trained No longer in need of daytime naps Able to participate safely and independently in a group setting Able to communicate their needs to staff Able to understand and follow directions Able to treat others safely and respectfully and refrain from physical aggression Able to take responsibility for their actions Able to follow program and safety rules within a 12:1 child-to-staff ratio Comfortable being physically and socially active with their elementary school-aged peers Please note that this program is not appropriate for every child. In particular, some Pre-K and Kindergarten students may be overwhelmed by the transition to school or may not yet be developmentally ready for the level of independence and responsibility expected in the program.  If it is determined that the program is not a good fit for your child, you will be notified and alternative arrangements will need to be made. Registration Policies Registrations are accepted by the month for attendance on the same scheduled days each week throughout that month. Registration and payment in full are due by the 25th of each month for the following month's attendance. Once the monthly registration deadline has passed, schedule changes cannot be accommodated. This policy helps ensure a safe and accurate after-school dismissal process. After the registration deadline, credits or refunds will not be issued for registered days that are missed, regardless of the reason for the absence.
